The BOHEMIAN HERITAGE FUND awards its Garnet Star to figures of Czech art for their lifetime contribution to Czech cultural heritage. In 2013 the award was won by Professor Zuzana Růžičková. This jewel - a silver medal decorated with a Czech garnet - was received by the prodigious Czech harpsichordist from the hands of Cecilia Bartoli, Tomáš Hudeček, the Mayor of Prague, and Pavel Smutný, the President of the BHF at a ceremony at the Rudolfinum.
The ceremony was accompanied by recordings of masterful interpretations of the works of J. S. Bach, for which Professor Růžičková is renowned throughout the world. Professor Růžičková is a multiple winner of the Grand Prix du Disque awarded by the Charles Cros Academy in Paris and holds the French title of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters, the Czech Charles IV cultural award, an honorary doctorate from the Prague Academy of Performing Arts and other important awards. She is renowned in world music history for her interpretation of the works of J. S. Bach and also the promotion of works by the Czech authors Viktor Kalabis and Bohuslav Martinů.
